Hey gang; long time no talk (or is it ... type). Ing, you correctly stated my thoughts on the departure of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Welcome, Mayor Cockrel, and get ready for a rough ride. Unfortunately the Comedy or Errors more than likely continues with newly-minted City Council President Monica Conyers and Sharon McPhail (McFAIL) running for mayor.
So who is Sen. McCain these days? Let's look at this interesting thought. McCain, who just wrapped up playing a right-wing "less gov't" conservative, is now, along with Pres. George W. Bush, wanting to bail Wall Street out from dire economical circumstances. Do I feel Wall Street should be assisted, sure, but as long as those agencies accepting the taxpayer funds subject themselves to the 'evil' government regulations that kept our nations stock markets and banks relatively steady from the FDR revolution through the 1980s. Sometimes slow but steady gains win - just ask the tortise.
I listened to ulta-conservative after ultra-conservative House republican (and a few Dems.) complain that this action to bail out Wall Street is akin to socialism, "big government," whatever you want to call it. These folks never were die hard McCain fans, and while they may have liked the conservative bent that is Sarah Palin, they sure are not going to go the extra mile for the campaign. That's what I think anyway.
Let's see... who got to see the Katie Couric interview with Ms. Palin? Ing, I'm hoping you can shed some light. Of course I missed it! CNN and the Daily Show always tease me with their five or 10 second clips that make me want more.
Enjoy this weekend all. Oh, and, like Mayor Cockrel, get ready for that rough ride. To us current and ex-Detroiters (in the urban and suburban), that rough ride is nothing new to us
